For parents, teachers, and the house

A child who can settle feels more in control.

That control builds confidence. A child without tools for big feelings gets stuck. Stuck is unhappy for the child, and it is unhappy for the house.

Little Calm Corner is a small set of tools for coming back to calm. Warm, plain, and practical. For children about 3–10, and the adults beside them.

Three ways in

How it works

The same four steps at home and in a classroom. Practice them on an easy afternoon, not only on a hard one.

1

Notice the feeling

What the body is doing, before any lecture. Shoulders, voice, hands, breath.

2

Name it

One true word is enough. Mad, sad, scared, tired, disappointed.

3

Use a tool

A breath, a cushion, a token, the corner, or a person nearby.

4

Come back to calm

Then rejoin the thing you were doing. Socks, snack, the next page.

For the child and the house

Company first. Then the skill.

A big feeling is a body that has not found its way back yet. We do not blame the child for that. The adult’s job is to stay close and offer one tool, not a speech.
